The Huaxi Copper Mine has a large amount of low-grade copper ore resources and the prospective resource reserves are expected to exceed 5 million tonnes. Mining scale: 100,000 t/d of copper ore with an average grade of 0.428% Cu and 0.027% Mo. Processing scale: 100,000 t/d. The products are copper concentrate and molybdenum concentrate. Copper concentrate: 481,100 t/a at 25%; molybdenum concentrate: 13,900 t/a at 45%. The maximum elevation of the open pit slope is 1485m, the closure circle is 1010m and the pit bottom elevation is 600m. 21,833,900 t of ore was extracted within the open pit boundary, with an average geological grade of Cu 0.428%. The mine construction period is three years and the mine service life is 15 years.
According to the plan, the Huaxi copper mine will be implemented as a large-scale open pit mine and will be constructed in two phases, with Phase I scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2021, and is expected to produce an average of 160,000 tonnes of copper per year after production; Phase II will be constructed at 300,000 tonnes per day and will produce 260,000 tonnes of copper per year after completion. The construction of the Phase I project is progressing smoothly, with 80% of the overall image works of the Huaxi project infrastructure completed and the stripping of mining infrastructure resumed at the end of October 2020.
