CCTV News reported on October 27 that recently, the reporter learned from the Henan Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mines that the bureau had made a major ore finding breakthrough in the area of Weishancheng, Zhuzhuang Town, Tongbai County.
A very large gold mine was discovered, with a total of 16 gold ore bodies and a preliminary estimate of 31.55 tonnes of gold reserves, which is a very large gold mine and is expected to break through 50 tonnes by the end of this year. This is another major achievement of gold exploration in Henan Province in the past three years.
It is understood that, for decades, Henan's annual gold production has steadily ranked second in China.
It is reported that the gold mine is located in the deep and peripheral part of the Laowan gold mine in Tongbai County, Tongbai Mountain, with a newly discovered gold resource estimated at 104,960,000 kilograms and an associated silver resource estimated at 120,308,000 kilograms. In addition to the mega gold discovery, a large number of new natural alkali and lead-zinc mineral resources have been discovered.
According to China Gold Association data, the top 10 provinces in China in terms of gold production are.
Shandong, Henan, Jiangxi, Inner Mongolia, Yunnan, Hunan, Gansu, Fujian, Hubei and Xinjiang, with these ten provinces (regions) accounting for 82.94% of China's total gold production.
The distribution of gold mines in Henan Province is dominated by Xiao Qinling, Wai Fang Mountain, Luoyang Song County and Tongbai Mountain, including Wenyu Gold Mine, Tonggu Gold Mine, Jinqu Gold Mine, Qinling Gold Mine, Gunma Gold Mine, Andi Gold Mine, Dahu Gold Mine, Zangzhu Gold Mine, Fanzhu Gold Mine, Linghu Gold Mine, Lao Cuxia Gold Mine, Tantui Gold Mine and Shanggong Gold Mine.
According to Zhengzhou Evening News, in 2014, the Song County Gold and Molybdenum Polymetallic Mine Integrated Exploration Project discovered a large gold deposit containing nearly 40 tonnes of gold in the Huai Shuping mining area of Dazhang Town on the west side of Song County, which is expected to be excavated for 42 years, in a strategy to find a breakthrough in mining.
In 2016, the Department of Land and Resources of Henan Province had discovered a mega gold deposit containing about 105 tonnes of gold that could be mined for 80 years in the deep and peripheral census project of Laowan gold mine in Tongbai County within the Tongbai Mountain region of Henan Province.
According to the China Gold Yearbook 2020 released by the China Gold Association, by the end of 2019, China's gold identified resource reserves were 14,131.06 tonnes, a net increase of 492.66 tonnes over the previous year, up 3.61% year-on-year. China's gold identified resource reserves have exceeded the 10,000-ton mark for five consecutive years, and China's gold production has ranked first in the world for 13 consecutive years since 2007.
